This blog was created to document the process of trying to “rebrand” English Language Learners at the international school where I work as a High School teacher. My thinking is that when students get grouped or labelled in this way, they are categorised by a deficit, not by their many strengths. Their school days are spent doing much more than just learning English. They are often navigating a new school system, with new subjects, in a new country, as well as trying to maintain and further develop their first language.
